9 days/Happy Thanksgiving
I woke up at 5am this morning, with to do lists running through my head. Finally at 5:45 I just got up, since it was clear I was just going to toss and turn and worry if I stayed in bed. But once I got up, the anxiety subsided. Parker started playing with a couple of toys; hopping and running and batting his orange plastic spiral toy around the living room. And watching him have so much fun immediately soothed my anxious mind. And I realized that I have so much to be thankful for.
Every day I am so glad that in just a matter of days, I will marry my favorite person in the whole world. My family will grow to include a husband, a wonderful father-in-law, 2 great brothers, and an amazing bunch of aunts, uncles and cousins. I am so proud that in just a few days I will officially be a part of the Hines family and the Cameron family, and that Kevin will be a Kemp and MacNeil. In just 2 more days, we’ll go to my childhood home, where I get to spend a week with my family before we’re joined by some of our closest friends to celebrate our marriage.
I’m also so thankful that almost a year and a half ago a little kitty climbed into my lap at the ASPCA, made himself comfy, and looked me in the eye. I’m glad that he knew we were supposed to be a family, and waited patiently for six years until we found each other. And that now I have a little buddy who loves to nap in my lap, pat my cheek in the morning to wake me up, and follows me around our apartment purring and begging to be pet.
